Loricraft/Garrard

The Garrard Factory formerly of Swindon, Wiltshire produced thousands of the famous 301 and 401 turntables in their heyday before they were taken over by the Brazilian company Gradienti.

Fortunately the Garrard name is now in the safe hands of Terry O`Sullivan of Loricraft fame. He not only breathes new life into the older models but produces a 2008 version of the Classic older models called the 501. This is a hand built, no cost turntable with new close tolerance bearings whilst still retaining the idler wheel principle. An all new special power supply unit has also been developed for it.

The 501 now has a new cheaper brother the 601, again a direct descendant of the classics turntables but know in a "Skeletal Plinth".

The 301 & 401 turntables can be serviced or completely refurbished to the latest specification, which includes many ideas used for the newer 501 & 601.

We can supply power supplies to improve speed control, new plinths either solid or skeletal, both with isolation of the mounting board. For new tone arms, we particularly recommend the SME range and our own acrylic lift off covers are available to order, see appropriate pages on our site.

Featured below is the New 601 complete with an SME Series V tonearm as an option. As a package the SME M2-9 with Silver internal wiring is offered as an excellent starting point.

To take advantage of the reduced tracking distortion of the SME 12" tonearm`s the 601 is available to order in a larger skeletal plinth to accomadate them. This version is unique to South West Analogue.

The Loricraft/Garrard Professional record cleaning machine is the perfect way to clean and maintain those valuable records, it is amazing how much more information can be heard when they have been cleaned by these machines. They use a much more powerful motor than is usually associated with this type of machine, which means more torque for cleaning. This enables you to get deep into the groove without putting a strain on the motor, giving it a much longer life. The Professional PRC3 is pictured below.
