As all audio enthusiasts know the quality of the cables that connects our electronic equipment together can make a profound difference to the sound quality that our systems produce. Poor quality cables means poor sound no matter how good the equipment is.
This demand for better quality cables led us to produce a range of audio leads of a higher standard than those supplied with the majority of tonearms. They are on a "made to order" basis from hand braided Silver Litz.
Produced initially for the SME range, most other tonearms have also benefited.
Our Silver Litz tonearm cables are constructed from double balance four conductor 99.99% High Purity Silver. This is enclosed in a Teflon tube which is larger than the core resulting in minimal contact between the Teflon and the Silver conductor, giving a predominately Air Dialectric.
To achieve the best sound the wires are hand braided in a loose Litzendraht formation. This is very time consuming as it is essential to get an even and consistent loose weave. The Litz braiding principle helps reject RFI, a major cause of signal degradation and poor sound.
The cable illustrated shows the optional 5 pin Din plugs available. Centre right we have pictured the standard SME right angled connector, suitable for most applications. For the SME Model 30/2A & 30/12A turntables a special version is available with a different orientation of the detent pin.
Centre left, a straight line 5 pin Din connector (not suitable for most Michell turntables or the larger SME models).
Pictured above is our most popular cable fitted with a straight line 5 pin Din connector. This cable is suitable for most applications where access is not a problem. (Not suitable for Model 30/2A, Model 30/12A, Orbe or Gyrodec).
A now have a new "top of the range" cable (pictured below) using eight conductors of the same High Purity Silver wire. Although it sounds better it is unfotunately only available in Phono to Phono format as there is too much silver wire for any 5 pin Din connector we have encountered. It is best suited for SME turntables converted to phono socket output.
